Čizmedžiluk Street is located in the central part of the Old Town and runs along the eastern wall of the courtyard at Gazi Husrev Bey’s Mosque.

This street grew into a bazaar in the 16th century and takes its name from čizmedžije, the craftsmen and traders who made and sold boots, khuffs (leather socks), moccasins, slippers and other leather footwear. This particular craft was one of the most developed trades in Sarajevo’s old Čaršija and primarily met the needs of the local population.  After more than four centuries, the last čizmedžija shop closed in 1947.
