Tabaci Street is located in the heart of the Old Town, in the vicinity of Baščaršija.

This street dates back to the 16th century when it was a bazaar for leather workers (tabaci) who produced and sold their wares in workshops called tabhane along the Miljacka River. In the second half of the 18th century this street was named Čaršija Gornji Tabaci and then later Gornji Tabaci (1895-1931).
