Kazandžiluk Street is located in the heart of the Old Town, in the vicinity of Baščaršija Square.
It was laid out in the 16th century at a time when Sarajevo’s craft and trade center was beginning to form. Kazandžija's Čaršija was constructed on land which Sagrakči Hajji Mahmut, the founder of Ulomljenica Mosque had intended to use for the site of a mosque. Different types of copper dishes and other souvenirs were sold here and even today these items are what make the street stand out. The small square (Mali Kazandžiluk) on nearby Luledžina Street used to be part of Kazandžiluk, which is where the coppersmiths had their storerooms. In 1931 Mali Kazandžiluk became a new and separate street.
